Here are the bands and bugles of The Light Infantry, together with the composite bands of The Royal Engineers (Chatham and Aldershot) and the Regimental Band, Bugles, Pipes and Drums of The Royal Irish Rangers. The distinctive sound of silver bugles, coupled with a fast marching speed of 140 paces to the minute are elements of Light Infantry identity. The Royal Engineers Band was originally formed as a brass band in 1850; on this recording the band has a traditional military line-up. The Royal Irish Rangers present a wide variety of sound, combining the band with pipes, bugles and drums. |
